International grandmaster, FIDE Senior Trainer Jakov Geller is one of Russia's top modern coaches and he has been working with the Russian youth team for more than 10 years. He was named Children's Trainer of the Year in 2010 and 2019 by the Russian Chess Federation. In 2019 he received the Mark Dvoretsky award, also from the Russian Chess Federation. He was the winner of the FIDE Trainer Awards 2021 in Samuel Reshevsky nomination - for the best achievement by a junior prodigy (U-14). Jakov's students have won youth world and European championships many times, won U16 gold medals at the World Youth Olympiad, and become Russian national champions. Further, his students, including grandmasters Ivan Bukavshin, Alexander Predke and Dinara Wagner, have achieved significant success in adult chess - they have won prestigious tournaments and played for the men's and women's national teams.
