Julie Jean Francis lived in Myanmar with her husband and her many Third Culture Kids from 2012 to 2021, when a military coup forced them to leave and move to a neighboring country. Julie Jean was raised on a farm in Eastern Montana and early on felt a call to cross-cultural ministry. She holds a degree in English Education from Harding University with a minor in Healthcare Missions. She has an M.A. in TESOL from Arkansas Tech University and has taken many courses in linguistics from the University of North Dakota. Julie Jean likes drinking tea, ministering to children, and talking about loneliness, the power of the Word, and the faithfulness of God in hard times. She is passionate about helping people of all ages share their own stories of joy, loss, and lament while pondering the question, “Where is home?” Julie Jean is the author of Bowing Low: Rejecting the Idols Around Us to Worship the Living God and its companion meditative Bible study for grown-ups. Her first picture book for TCKs, When We Called Myanmar Home was published in 2023.
