Reading is a journey. You link arms with the characters, cheering their victories and weeping with their losses. Because the characters are you. J.R.R. Tolkien said, "fantasy is escapist." I couldn't agree more. He gives this charge to writers: "It's our plain duty to escape and to take as many people with us as we can!" I'm thrilled to bring readers on my adventures and, like Bilbo, learn a little about ourselves along the way. When I'm not escaping into my own stories, I'm immersed in some of my favorite authors' worlds or meandering in my Texas gardens, spending time with my husband and two grown kids, or planning our next trip to some enchanted land anywhere around the globe.
