Marina Abrams

Marina Abrams was born and raised in Kazakhstan, lived in Tajikistan and Russia, and traveled extensively around the Eurasian region. She is an international policy professional with twenty years of experience in multi-disciplinary projects. She holds a B.A. in Translation-Interpretation from the Abylaikhan Kazakh State University of International Relations and World Languages and an M.A. in International Policy Studies from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, where she studied on a Graduate Muskie Merit Scholarship. Being an active member of the Central Asian émigré community in the US, Marina promotes regional handcrafts at local museums, leads story telling sessions for children, gives presentations at schools and universities, and organizes other cultural events. Her mission is to promote multiculturalism, tolerance, and knowledge about Central Asia through books, art projects, and events. She has collaborated with a number of institutions in the United States, such as The George Washington University, Smithsonian's National Museum of Asian Art, American Uzbekistan Association, Tajik American Cultural Association and New York Persian Center. In 2019, her project "Introducing Central Asia through Children's Literature" received Honorable Mention in the Public Outreach Award from Central Eurasian Studies Society.
