Carly Finseth

Carly Finseth, Ph.D. is a multiple award-winning educator, author, and business coach. Her work has been featured in many acclaimed peer-reviewed publications, such as Technical Communication, Technoculture, the Journal of Applied Instructional Design, the Journal of Technical Writing and Communication, Kairos, and the Journal of Teaching Writing. She is the author of two books: Teach Like a Gamer (McFarland, 2018) and Coding for Communicators (ThoughtSuite, 2021). Dr. Finseth's academic expertise includes technology, writing, and games-based learning. In her courses, she provides student-centered, customized learning opportunities emphasizing practical, hands-on experiences. Her industry background includes executive leadership, project management, publications management, and entrepreneurship. Dr. Finseth is the CEO of Find Your Purpose, an empowerment and business coaching practice, and ThoughtSuite, a writing and graphic design company featuring digital planning and writing solutions for authors, readers, and gamers. She lives with her husband and son in beautiful Boise, Idaho.
