Harold B. Bullock

Harold Bullock was the Founding Pastor of Hope Church, an innovative church in Fort Worth, Texas. He planted Hope Church in 1978 with a vision to help with planting churches in the major cities of the world. The ministry of Hope Church has planted more than sixty-five churches from the people trained there in ministry.

PRIOR TO MINISTRY

Harold grew up in northeast Tennessee. Planning to go into a chemistry career, he acquired a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics and chemistry from East Tennessee State University in 1967, followed by graduate studies in physical chemistry at ETSU. He then traveled to California to begin work on a Ph. D. in physical chemistry at the University of Southern California. Prior to entering vocational ministry, Harold worked as a research chemist and taught chemistry at Pasadena College.

FULL-TIME MINISTRY

Harold began vocational ministry as Director of Student Ministries on staff for the Los Angeles Southern Baptist Association, starting Baptist Student Ministries on several campuses in the eastern LA region. It was there that he met and married Deborah.

In 1974 the Bullocks moved to Fort Worth to attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. They both graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in 1977. In January 1978, they began Hope Church and have grown it to a congregation of about 1,000. They have three children and several grandchildren.

SPEAKER

Since founding Hope Church, Harold has spoken at Urban Evangelism forums for the Southern Baptists as well as doing conferences for the Student Work Department of the Sunday School Board. He has also spoken at numerous church planting conferences and taught courses at Golden Gate Seminary, Midwestern Seminary, and New Orleans Seminary.
