Christine Self

Christine Self, Ph.D. has worked in higher education for over 20 years. Her research interests include family engagement in higher education, the experiences of women in higher education, women's and gender studies, and sexual violence prevention in higher education. Christine serves as the Director of Parent & Family Relations at Texas Tech University as well as a Women's and Gender Studies Instructor. Her upcoming book, coedited with Amy Murphy and Elizabeth Massengale, comes out July 4th, 2023. The book, Engaging Families in Higher Education: Lessons Learned and Best Practices, gathers research, theory, and practice surrounding college family engagement and serves as a call to action for higher education institutions to partner with college students' families - rather than exclude them - to foster student success and retention.
