Tomoko Kakita is the author of Furoshiki: The Japanese Art of Gift Wrapping. She is an interior architect based in London, UK. Living for over two decades in the UK and being immersed in a different culture reinforced her appreciation for Japan’s unique traditions. Share in her rediscovery of Japanese heritage in her first book about Furoshiki 風呂敷 and explore ways to introduce the concept of ‘ma’ 間 (pronounced as má), “the space between things” into your home and life. Spatial design has been her profession for a long time. She loves helping people fill their ‘ma’ 間 with beautiful products to enhance their enjoyment of life. With Furoshiki, we create 'ma' 間 in a piece of cloth. We cocoon appreciation, care and compassion as a gift to someone we love. She wants to spread this beautiful Japanese culture through her book Furoshiki 風呂敷 and the Japanese Art of Gift Wrapping. She design and sells her beautiful, nature-inspired Furoshiki maspacedesign website.
