JIMMY LEE BEASON II is a citizen of the Osage Nation of Oklahoma, from the Eagle Clan. He writes nonfiction, fiction, poetry, and essays about contemporary native issues. Themes of his writings include culture, traditional worldview, humor and reflection on living in a colonial society as a Native man. He earned his MSW from the University of Kansas and focused on decolonization as a way to heal and build a solid cultural foundation. He works as a professor in the Indigenous and American Indian Studies Department at Haskell Indian Nations University where he teaches undergraduates.
