Dr. Trang Nguyen is a Vietnamese wildlife conservation scientist, environmental activist and director of Vietnamese based NGO WildAct. Born and raised in Vietnam, Trang has always been close to the plight of endangered wildlife and began her conservation efforts when she was just 14. In 2018, Trang finished her PhD in Biodiversity Management at the University of Kent, England. Trang devotes her time to researching and monitoring the markets for illegal wildlife products. Her research has taken her across continents and contexts, from Asia to Africa, while exploring the demand for wildlife products. Besides research, Trang and her team also invest in educating and raising awareness on this subject among Vietnamese youth. She received a prestigious international award Future for Nature for her work in combating illegal wildlife trade at the age of 23. She was also named among global most influential women by the BBC 2019, 30 Under 30 Forbes Asia 2020, Princess of Girona Award 2022 and UK Alumni Global Award 2023.
