Dr. Brendan J. Dunlop

Dr Brendan J Dunlop (BSc Hons, ClinPsyD, FHEA) (he/him) is a Principal Clinical Psychologist within the UK's National Health Service, as well as a Clinical Lecturer in Clinical Psychology at The University of Manchester. Dr Dunlop is also a clinical researcher and clinical supervisor. In addition, he provides independent therapy to adolescents, young adults and military veterans. Dr Dunlop's research interests centre around minoritised mental health, in particular the mental health of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer+ (LGBTQ+) people. Dr Dunlop also has research interests in self-harm, suicide prevention, intersectionality and HIV prevention and intervention. Dr Dunlop supervises doctoral and Masters-level research projects in these areas, and lectures on these topics too. To date, Dr Dunlop has authored eleven scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, and has presented numerous posters and oral presentations at national and international conferences. In 2021, Dr Dunlop was awarded The University of Manchester's Postgraduate Student of the Year Award in the School of Health Sciences. He is Associate Editor for the British Psychological Society’s academic journal Psychology and Psychotherapy: Theory, Research and Practice.
