Diana Lucía Quintero was born and raised in Santiago de Cali, Colombia, and currently lives in the San Francisco Bay area, California. Diana Lucía studied Social Communication and Early Childhood Education, and at this time she merges her knowledge in both areas to create children's books. The author spends much of her life in Lake Tahoe, California, her second home. There, she spends her time creating art, writing, and exploring the Sierra Nevada. Carmelita Walks Freely in Lake Tahoe is Diana Lucía's first publication for children, with which she seeks to promote love and respect for nature.
