Renee Burns Lonner, author, is a management consultant for television newsrooms and a licensed psychotherapist based in Los Angeles. Prior to the pandemic, her written work was serious and appeared in professional journals, newspapers, and a textbook. The pandemic changed all that and created in her a need for therapy of the literary kind.
Moving on to humorous social commentary was a natural transition and in 2021, Ms. Lonner published “If You Give a Man a Tesla: A Parody.” Written in the style of a children’s book but clearly for adults, this work is a tongue-in-cheek look at the intersection of gender, culture and cars.
Maintaining the theme of social commentary, with a side of irreverence, her second book “We’re sorry to inform you that . . . YOUR FORTIES ARE OVER” is a humorous look at this huge half-century milestone in women’s lives. Mixed in with reflections on the indignities that come with solid middle age (OMG, my neck!) is some sound advice, presented in easily digestible portions.
Many of Ms. Lonner’s short humor/human interest essays have been published by Medium, LOL Comedy, The MockingOwl Roost, and the Erma Bombeck Writers’ Workshop blog and are available on her website.
