Jean-Loup Samaan is a senior research fellow at the Middle East Institute of the National University of Singapore, as well as a nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council. He is also an associate research fellow with the French Institute of International Relations. His research covers Middle Eastern security affairs, in particular the foreign and defense policies of Gulf states and Israel, as well as the evolution of non-state warfare in the region. His latest book, New Military Strategies in the Gulf, published by I.B. Tauris is now available in paperback and e-book format. He is the author of five other books covering the history of Lebanese Hezbollah, US strategy vis-a-vis China, Israel's foreign policy beyond the Arab World, and most recently the political developments in the Indian Ocean.
