Andy Swash lives in Devon, UK, and is an ecologist, conservationist, award-winning wildlife photographer and accomplished author. His books include a number of best-selling titles in the Princeton WILDGuides series of photographic field guides, such as the highly acclaimed Britain’s Birds, Europe’s Birds, Britain’s Dragonflies and Europe’s Dragonflies, as well as more wide-ranging titles such as The World’s Rarest Birds. His latest book, Hummingbirds – A Celebration of Nature’s Jewels, is the culmination of years of work and showcases many of the most spectacular photos ever taken of this incredible group of birds. Andy now manages the WILDGuides imprint at Princeton University Press, having had a long career working for a number of wildlife conservation organizations and latterly as a senior environmental adviser to the UK government. During his extensive global travels he has been fortunate to have seen and photographed a spectacular diversity of wildlife, and amassed a vast portfolio of images, including photos of more than 4,000 bird species alone. Andy’s great ambition is to encourage a greater awareness of the wonders of the natural world through his photography and writings.
