Ember Pepper was born and raised in San Diego, CA. She has an M.F.A. degree in Creative Fiction Writing. She has been a fan of The Great Detective since she was a pre-teen and her greatest artistic enjoyment is challenging herself to write quality pastiches of Sherlock Holmes and his stalwart biographer, John Watson.

She has written two connected Holmes and Lovecraft crossover novels, "Sherlock Holmes and the Crawling Chaos" and "Sherlock Holmes and the Ghastly Gate". She is also working on a connected universe of Sherlock Holmes pastiches which currently include "Mary", "The Adventure of the Threatened New Yorker", The Specter at Painswick", and "Sherlock Holmes and the Byrne House Murders." Recently, she was published in "The MX Book of New Sherlock Holmes Stories Part XXXIX: 2023 Annual (1897-1923)" and "The MX Book of New Sherlock Holmes Stories Part XLI: Further Untold Cases (1887-1892)" edited by David Marcum.

Some of her favorite Sherlock Holmes pastiches are "Dust and Shadow" and "The Whole Art of Detection" by Lyndsay Faye, Bonnie MacBird's series, "The Star of India" by Carole Bugge, and "The Counterfeit Detective" by Stuart Douglas. James Lovegrove's novels are also excellent, and she hopes one day to achieve something even close to the same level of care and skill these writers have achieved. This is just a glimpse into her extensive collection of Sherlock Holmes stories and pastiches.

She has also completed her first original novel - a sci-fi love story - called This Hollow Valley and a book of short stories and poetry.
