Following his graduation from Yale College in 1975, he joined The New York Times, where he spent the next 42 years as a reporter for the metro desk. He is currently writing and producing the Provincetown Encyclopedia website (ptownencyclopedia.com), a building-by-building social and cultural history. He is the author, co-author, or photographer of five books. He lives in Manhattan.
