I have always had a passion for writing. In high school, two of my English teachers told me I had a destiny for writing—especially for children. Their words stuck with me, but life took me in different directions. Years went by, and after some life changes, I decided to take a leap of faith and release my first book. As a mother, educator, and author, my mission is to create a space where Black and Brown children are celebrated, empowered, and uplifted. I want every child to experience the joy of picking up a book and seeing a character who looks like them—who shares their dreams, struggles, and triumphs. That moment when a child says, *"They look like me!"* fuels my passion and drives my work forward. My goal is to open communication between parents and their little ones, helping them navigate life’s changes. Too often, we expect children to simply understand and adapt, but they feel the impact of change just as deeply as we do. Many struggle to express their emotions, especially when they don’t fully understand what they are going through. As a teacher, I have made it my mission to help my students find their voices, use their words, and express their feelings in healthy ways. I founded The Mirror Movement: Reflections of Us to ensure that children of color see themselves in literature—not just as background characters, but as the heroes of their own stories. My books are designed to encourage self-love, confidence, and important conversations that help children navigate their world with courage and understanding. Enjoy this journey with me. Let’s empower our children—one story at a time.
