At seven times a grandmother, Cindy Roe Littlejohn is the wife of an environmental engineer and the mother of three adult children, but she is also a tree farmer, blogger, retired agriculture and environmental lobbyist, piano player, former association manager, world traveler, old trails traveler, and former adjunct professor. She and her husband once survived a hurricane on a clipper ship. She is an author of historical nonfiction books. Her territorial Florida adventure, “Palmetto Pioneers: the Emigrants” and its sequel “From Harmony to Hostility” have received critical acclaim. Her debut book in her “Palmetto Pioneers” series won a bronze medal at the IPPY Awards for nonfiction in the southeast and two gold medals for history and biography, and a silver for cover design from the 2024 Florida Authors and Publishers Association awards. When she’s not working, she can usually be found traveling old trails or in her garden. She published the first book in the series "The Emigrants" in the summer of 2022. Her newest novel in the series, "From Harmony to Hostility," follows the Walker family into the Civil War and was released on March 15, 2024. Whether family, friends, colleagues at work, history buffs, or Florida lovers, they will love these books as Christmas presents! She comes from a small rural town in North Florida and is the eighth generation of her family to have lived there. She has a BS in Communication with an emphasis in public relations, an MS in Communication with an emphasis in organizational communication, and a Ph.D. in Communication with an emphasis in communication research and methodology with cognates in statistics and behavioral psychology. All three degrees are from Florida State University. She currently serves on the Boards of Directors of the Florida Forestry Association, the Florida Historic Capitol Foundation, and the Jefferson County Historical Association. She is an associate scholar with the Aucilla Research Institute and a member of Class XXI of Connect Florida (Leadership Florida). She serves as an Elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello and is a volunteer docent with Monticello’s Keystone Genealogical Library.
