I obtained my elementary education degree from East Carolina University. After several years teaching K-5, I trained to become a K-12 gifted intervention specialist, obtaining a master's degree in gifted education from Kent State University. My efforts to be the best teacher possible earned Teacher of the Year awards in three different school districts and an “All- County Teacher” award for my efforts to advance gifted education and secure two considerable technology grants. As a gifted intervention specialist, I developed gifted education programs in several districts. These important programs ensured smart students were offered a variety of options to meet their needs in school ranging from curriculum compacting, mentorships, and acceleration. Now as a gifted consultant, I provide professional development and education on topics relevant to gifted children. I also educate parents, teachers, and school administrators on identification and support of this special population of children. I am a member of NAGC (National Association for Gifted Children), OAGC (Ohio Association for Gifted Children, and SENG (Supporting Emotional Needs of the Gifted).
