Dr. Shih-Ho (Simon) Chao is the ACPA Tom Wheelan Endowed Professor at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), USA. He received his Ph.D. in Structural and Materials Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA. Professor Chao has received several research and teaching awards including the ACI Mete A. Sozen Award for Excellence in Structural Research, ACI Chester Paul Siess Award for Excellence in Structural Research, AISC Milek Young Researcher Fellowship Award, UTA Outstanding Civil Engineering Instructor Award, UTA President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, UTA College of Engineering Teaching Award, and University of Texas System Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award. He was inducted into the UT Arlington’s Academy of Distinguished Teachers in 2019.
