Randy West

Randy West's voice is familiar to TV viewers - especially game show lovers - from his decades of introducing hosts, describing prizes, announcing award show nominees, narrating crime shows, describing contestants' exciting supermarket "sweeps," and challenging "Big Brother" house guests. Randy was inspired and mentored into his successful career in broadcasting by legendary television announcer Johnny Olson. Armed with Johnny’s classic sensibilities and professionalism, Randy was first behind radio microphones while still in his teens in suburban New York City. Once he earned his B.A. degree, Randy cast his fates to the airwaves on a coast-to-coast journey that eventually led to “Magic 106” radio in Los Angeles. It was his stepping stone to television announcing. TV work began with Group W’s "Hour Magazine" in 1988, followed by a long list of programs that paired Randy with Ryan Seacrest, Dick Clark, Wink Martindale, Chuck Woolery, Bob Eubanks, Howie Mandel, Jerry Springer, Ray Combs, Marc Summers, Ben Stein and other iconic television personalities. Randy’s resume includes an exhaustive list of game, talk and awards shows including "Supermarket Sweep," "Deal or No Deal," "Weakest Link," "The Daytime Emmy Awards" and ten annual live broadcasts of Nick’s "Kids Choice Awards." His television voice work continues, most recently on CBS’ "Big Brother." Randy cites his work with Bob Barker announcing CBS’ "The Price is Right" during the 2003-2004 season as both a career pinnacle and an especially poignant honor, as it was his mentor’s signature program. Randy continues his association with America’s longest-running game show, performing during the past 19 years in FremantleMedia’s "The Price is Right – Live" stage show which now tours the country following successful residences in Bally’s Las Vegas and Harrah’s Atlantic City showrooms. Starting in 2019, Randy expanded his casino showroom work freelancing as a host of live presentations for Game Show America, and in 2022 he was on-stage to help kick-off Sony's "Wheel of Fortune-Live" tour. Randy presently serves on the Board of Directors of Pacific Pioneer Broadcasters and Hollywood Media Professionals. He’s actively involved as a voting member of the Television Academy, was an organizer and speaker for several years’ annual Game Show Congress events, and periodically serves on committees at SAG-AFTRA. Most recently, Randy was honored by the request to aid in establishing the new National Archives of Game Show History at The Strong National Museum of Play. The new gallery will feature interactive exhibits, while the archives will serve as a research resource and repository for scripts, props, production materials, set designs, technical schematics, production bibles, marketing materials and other artifacts from 75 years of television game shows. Randy is also a published author specializing in television history. The success of his "Johnny Olson: A Voice in Time" led to opportunities to pen articles and features, as well as invitations to speak on television and radio at a number of colleges and universities.
