Dan O'Neill is an American cartoonist, writer and artist best known for his comic strip Odd Bodkins during the 1960s and 1970s. He is a co-founder of the Air Pirates collective, which was known for their irreverent and controversial parodies of Disney characters. O'Neill's comics often dealt with political and social issues of the time, such as the Vietnam War, civil rights, and counterculture. His work has been featured in various underground comics anthologies, as well as in magazines such as Rolling Stone Magazine, National Lampoon, Heavy Metal, and High Times. O'Neill's work has been both celebrated and controversial, with some praising his sharp wit and political commentary, while others criticized it for being offensive and tasteless. He is the recipient of the Italian Yellow Kid Award and the Russian Pravda Award for journalistic excellence. He continues to create and publish comics and has a dedicated fanbase.
