She started writing about jewelry making on her website lisayangjewelry.com in 2012 and for The Spruce Crafts in 2014. She has published hundreds of articles on how to make handcrafted jewelry.

As a working mother of 2, Lisa found time to make jewelry by bringing tools and supplies along to her children's activities and sports games. She began documenting her techniques and projects on her website to provide a way to access previous information 'on the go' in a searchable online format. This led to opportunities providing projects for The Spruce Crafts website and other jewelry craft suppliers, and eventually writing books.
