Upendra Kumar Devisetty

Dr. Devisetty has more than 12 years of experience working on next-generation sequencing and genomics in plants and animals. Dr. Devisetty is currently a Head of Data Science where he leads a team of high-functional Data Scientists, Bioinformatics scientists, and Business Intelligence Analysts to provide Bioinformatics, Data Science, and Machine Learning support toward R&D efforts in both Human Health and Plant Health platforms at GreenLight Biosciences to build mRNA-based sustainable products that can address most pressing challenges. Before his current role, Dr. Devistty worked as a Bioinformatics scientist at CyVerse where he built several novel computational processes for researchers to integrate tools and algorithms into CyVerse’s computational infrastructure. He holds a Ph.D. in Agriculture from the University of Nottingham, UK. After graduating, Dr. Devisetty moved to the U.S. to work as a Postdoc research scientist at the University of California, Davis, and Oregon State University, Corvallis. Dr. Devisetty is very passionate about bringing Deep Learning to the genomics field so that every genomic researcher or Data Scientist or research scientist can leverage the Deep learning concepts in life sciences and Biotechnology industries to solve some of the tough genomics problems.
