I became a miniaturist when the dollhouse industry was at its peak in the late 1970s. But five years later, life changes got in the way. I carefully placed all my tools, books, and miniatures in boxes on a shelf in the closet. Eight years ago, I needed a special present for my mother for her 97th birthday. I created a forever birthday room to brighten her room. That gift, put me back into the miniature world. For five years, I built scenes and dollhouse the traditional way using kits and self-made pieces by hand. Three years ago, I hijacked a Cricut Maker to design, cut, and build everything required to make miniature scenes. I was able to work in 1:12, 1:24, and 1:48 scales creating room scenes, doorways in picture frames, and book nooks. My miniatures are built with an artist’s eye using art techniques learned in college. This book showcases the best pieces of miniature art from my collection. Not only did I write the book, I took all the photos using my iPhone 14 Pro. The photos jump off the page showing minute details. As a retiree, I spend my free time in my studio creating unique miniatures for family and friends and my own collection.
