Davy Crockett

关于作者

David “Davy” R. Crockett is a veteran ultrarunner, historian, author, podcaster, and retired web developer. He began serious running in 2004 and finished more than one hundred 100-mile races during the next fourteen years. In 2005, he combined his love for running and history by organizing the “Pony Express Trail 50 and 100” held on the historic Pony Express Trail in the west desert of Utah. Back in the mid-1990s, with his interest in 19th-century history, he began authoring books and published a series of books on the westward pioneer migration in the 1840s. He also published dozens of articles in magazines, newspapers, and encyclopedias. In 2005, he ventured down into the Grand Canyon for the first time, running a double crossing (back and forth), a rim-to-rim-to rim. The Grand Canyon became his favorite place to hike and run. Since that day, he has hiked or run about 1,200 miles in the Canyon. In 2016, as an experienced ultrarunner, Crockett developed an interest in the history of ultrarunning, and in 2018, he established the UltrarunningHistory website and the Ultrarunning History Podcast, authoring long articles and episodes every two weeks documenting long-forgotten stories of the sport. In 2020, he became the new Director of the American Ultrarunning Hall of Fame. In 2022, he started to preserve his writings into books in the Ultrarunning History Series on Amazon. He and his wife Linda are the parents of six children and fourteen grandchildren, all living in Utah.
