Emma Karlsson grew up in Kungsträdgården, Sweden, surrounded by Scandinavian heritage. Tales of Loki were more than just stories told to her at bedtime; they were accounts of what had happened long ago in a land where frost giants dwelled and warred with the armies of Odin.
She used to dress up as Freya and ride a makeshift chariot that she made by tying her cats to a cart. She was often found outside sitting under the Spruce tree in the backyard dreaming about the gods and goddesses who inhabited a wondrous, enchanted world, perfusing it with their magic.
Her love of Norse mythology and culture helped her develop a robust working knowledge of the religion and its roots. In an attempt to connect with her ancestors and form a mutually respectful and loving bond with nature, she became a follower of Asatru, one of the modern interpretations of Paganism. She has devoted much of her learning to reading runes and understanding what it means to be a follower of the Old Norse Paganism belief systems. She continues to develop her knowledge base to share with her readers around the world. She believes that the magic of the world around us is precious and plentiful enough for all of us to experience.
When not writing or researching, Emma loves to immerse herself in nature, formulate cosmetics and natural remedies, dance, and spend time with family and friends!
