We are Samantha and Johnny and we absolutely love the outdoors. It seems fitting to start out by telling you that neither Johnny or I are athletes. We are not naturally physical. We suffer from some underlying health conditions and have not always been particularly active. However, that has not stopped us and should not stop you from enjoying the benefits of the great outdoors! We have read lots of books in this area and often we find that they appear to be speaking to a different audience. For us, it has been a long journey of trial and error but we are now in a place to share hard-won information and make enjoying the outdoors a more accessible hobby for everyone to enjoy. The first book in the series is about advancing from shorter walks to longer day hikes. We hope to share with you the fundamentals of what you need in order to be able to hike and gradually take on more challenging distances and inclines, working your way up to hikes lasting from dawn till dusk. Hiking does not have to be intimidating, and people of all ages and abilities can and should enjoy it. We are here to tell you how.. You are not too old, out of shape, or inflexible to start. We have written this guide as a way of sharing what we have learned. Whether you are an absolute beginner or a seasoned short distance hiker looking to expand your range, you will benefit from this book.
