Karin Åkesson

The Rainbow Snail is written and illustrated by Karin Åkesson a swedish designer based in London.

Karin grew up in Sweden and moved to England in 1997 to study Art Foundation at KIAD, Maidestone. She then went on to complete her BA (Hons) Illustration degree at Brighton University followed by MA Communication in Art & Design at the Royal College of Art.

Shortly after her studies Karin started her own business, Karin Åkesson Design, a company selling wall art and inspirational gifts for children which she runs together with her husband David from their studio in East London. Karin’s two young children are the inspiration behind all the products she makes. She wants to create things that they get excited about, make them ask questions and empower and inspire them.
