I have been a freelance photographer more than half my life. My works have been featured in Popular Cars, Scale Auto Enthusiast, Street Rodder, FineScale Modeler, Popular HotRodding, American Rodder, DRIVE, FuelCurve.com, Goodguys Gazette, Ol’Skool Rodz and more. I’ve also been published in several foreign magazines in Sweden, Japan, and Australia. Though I have to admit I only understood my by-line in the Japanese magazine. There's a great joy in photographing and sharing events, information, etc. with other people and I suspect that I'll be a freelance photo journalist/writer all my life. I have published three successful car related magazines in my lifetime with HOT CARS magazine being the last magazine (that I published for over ten years). I have been a true gearhead all my life. I started building model cars when I was a kid, and I still do today at age 67. In fact I published two successful model car magazines in my lifetime, Plastic Fanatic & Model Car Builder, I was a judge for the Revell International Model Car Championship, and I’m an International Model Car Builders Museum Hall of Fame recipient. But when I’m not at my model car workbench in the house, you can find me at the workbench in the garage, I have built/owned over 30 cars in my life. My first car was a Morris Minor coupe with a small block Chevy and four speed in it, and the last car I built was a ’30 Ford Highboy Coupe. Currently sitting in the garage is a Pro Touring ’68 El Camino that I should have on the streets this spring. I have published two successful hot rod magazines; HOT CARS & HOT CARS Pictorial. Having to publish a magazine forced me into being a more well rounded photographer/journalist. I couldn’t shoot just what I liked, I had to picture what my readers would like. So I don’t specialize in just classic cars or just rat rods, I can cover just about any aspect of the automotive industry/hobby. The last ten years I’ve been covering auto racing at two of Northern California’s most famous tracks; WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca & Sonoma Raceway. So I’ve shot everything from 24 Hours of D’Lemons to 12 hour enduro sports car races. When not shooting races you can find me shooting car shows. I’ve covered every kind of car show you can think of, from Billetproof to the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance! Of course, along with all this I’ve been shooting some of the best cars in NorCal for car features, Shop Tour features, and many how to articles. But at 67 years old I have retired from my 9 to 5 job as a commercial photographer (for one of the biggest auto auctions on the West Coast), and I’ve sold both the hot rod magazines and model car magazine that I’ve been publishing the last ten years. Now I’m actively searching for more freelance work. I can ether shoot/write something you specifically need, or I can present something for your magazine that you may never thought of covering before.
