I have been in the fire service for over 30 years. I started as a volunteer while attending James Madison University (The Harvard of the Shenandoah) in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Following college, I became a wildland fire fighter in Wyoming, but because I missed my family, I returned to Northern Virginia to start my career. I have had an awesome and unique career. I have been assigned to the hazardous materials and technical rescue team. I have led and managed a weapons of mass destruction response team for the National Capitol Region and currently run our High Threat Response Program. I was working on 9/11 when the Pentagon was attacked, ultimately working that incident for over three consecutive weeks. A month later, I was involved with the detection and monitoring for Anthrax in the Senate Office buildings. I have been deployed on multiple occasions to Florida to assist with hurricane responses; as well as, to Haiti following the earthquake in 2010. I love my job and the opportunities I have been given, but I am most proud of being a dad and husband to three great kids and my wife, Jennifer.
