Whoever works with his hands is a worker. Whoever works with his hands and head is a craftsman. Whoever works with his hands, head, and heart is an artist. Larissa Gordon was born in Italy to Italian American parents and moved to Boston when she was 3 years old. She discovered a love for the art of crochet and embroidery from her grandmother while spending the summer holidays in Italy and later attended Art School. Over the years she took various courses and developed skills in other crafts such as knitting, macramé, and sewing, quickly becoming something of an expert. Larissa’s day job sees her dedicate afternoons to teaching the art of crochet and embroidery in her arts and crafts school and she hopes to one day be able to open additional branches of the school in other towns and cities in the United States. But she has also branched out to write about her passion and her first book, Crochet for Beginners, is a guide designed for those who are unfamiliar with this art but have always been fascinated by it. Providing the reader with simple step-by-step instructions, so even the very young can learn this beautiful art, it also provides advice on how they can turn this art into a job, just like Larissa did. Larissa still lives in Boston today, with her husband, two children, and their cat. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, participating in craft fairs, selling her own work, and sharing her passion for crochet with others. She also devotes some of her spare time to volunteer work.
