Karen Pence, former Second Lady of the United States and former First Lady of Indiana is a
mother, educator, and watercolor artist. She created the Indiana First Lady’s Charitable
Foundation established to encourage and support youth and families of Indiana. As Second
Lady, Mrs. Pence was committed to raising awareness of the profession of art therapy. She
also launched a nationwide campaign to elevate and encourage our nation’s military
spouses.
Mrs. Pence earned a B.S. and M.S. in Elementary Education from Butler University. She is a
Blue Star mom. Mrs. Pence and Vice President Mike Pence have been married since 1985 and
are proud parents of their adult children, Michael and his wife Sarah, Charlotte and her
husband Henry, and Audrey and her husband Dan. The Pences have three granddaughters
and live in Indiana.
