ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Abraham Minto is a ‘Technical Accounting’ practitioner with approximately 20 years of progressive accounting and finance experience across several industries, including Energy, Cruise, Hospitality, Real Estate, and Financial Services. Graduated from the University of Connecticut as University Scholar and Summa Cum Laude in May 1998, with a Bachelor of Science, as an Accounting Major. He lives in South Florida with his wife Flor and their cool cat, Jinkies. He holds a Certified Public Accountant ("CPA") License (Florida#: AC45906).
Abraham started his career in 1997 with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) in Hartford, CT. His 10-year career in Public Accounting included Audits, Financial Diligence, Capital Markets Advisory, and Complex Accounting Advisory Services to clients in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. After departing Public Accounting in 2007, Abraham joined the Technical Advisory Group at a large multinational firm and was responsible for providing ongoing accounting guidance for transactions by its real estate division in Europe and North America. In 2012, Abraham relocated to South Florida as VP Accounting for a Bank, where he corresponded with Bank Regulators on accounting and solvency matters. In 2013, Abraham joined a major Cruise Line and built the Technical Accounting Group under its Controllership area. This Group conducted thousands of pre-execution contract reviews and prepared accounting Position Papers in support of complex transactions. He was involved in the formation of the Cruise Line Industry Forum where the implementation of new accounting standards were discussed amongst Cruise Line Controllership personnel, including new US GAAP standards for Revenue Recognition and Leases. In 2020, Abraham joined a Renewable Energy developer and served as its Corporate Controller and CFO-Americas until March 2023. Currently, Abraham is authoring publications and providing consulting and advisory services to clients.
