Janin Pisarek

Janin Pisarek (*1990 in Schmalkalden) is a narrative researcher and cultural scientist. The Thuringian is a member of the Commission for Narrative Research in the German Society for Empirical Cultural Studies. Pisarek's main interest is Thuringian folklore and comparative narrative research, especially European folk tales, demonological sagas and mythical figures of the German-speaking world, and biographical storytelling. She is active in a variety of journalistic activities in these areas, such as for the "Märchenspiegel. Zeitschrift für internationale Märchenforschung und Märchenpflege", the Swiss "Märchenforum", the "Fabula – Journal of Folktale Studies" or anthologies and monographs. Since 2018 she has been editor of the magazine "Heimat Thüringen". Since the beginning of 2019, she has been part of the "Forgotten Creatures" project, which aims to impart knowledge about legendary figures to a broad audience.
