Dr Sushma Jansari is Tabor Foundation Curator South Asia at the British Museum. She works on the art and history of ancient South Asia, including the colonial era acquisition of this material. Her first book was published in 2023 - Chandragupta Maurya: the creation of a national hero in India (UCL Press). She is currently working on a major exhibition titled Ancient India: living traditions that explores the origins of Hindu, Jain and Buddhist devotional art in the nature spirits of ancient South Asia.
