Jacob Gluck

Jacob Gluck grew up in ultra-Orthodox Jewish Borough Park, Brooklyn, within the Satmar Hasidic sect, before leaving the community in 1999 upon experiencing a crisis of faith. From 2000-2017 he ran the HasidicNews.com blog, which critically reported and interpreted haredi news and culture. In 2011-2015 he ran the Hasidic Williamsburg Educational Walking Tour (HasidicWilliamsburgTour.com), a 3-hour guided tour that included an overview of Satmar-Hasidic culture in Williamsburg. In 2023 he published "Hasidopedia: The Calendar, Vol. 2", a comprehensive exposition on how modern-day Hasidim celebrate holidays and special events, with an emphasis on the Satmar sect in Williamsburg. An additional Hasidopedia volume on the Hasidic life cycle and general practices is slated for release in 2024. Jacob Gluck resides in Tampa, Florida, with his wife and two children.
