May L. Harris, Esq. is the CEO and founder of For Purpose Law Group (FPLG) a boutique law firm representing nonprofit organizations and social enterprises nationwide. In this role, she has represented thousands of nonprofit organizations of all sizes with formation, exemption, tax compliance, employment and governance. She is also the founder of Nonprofit Counsel, a coaching and consulting service for nonprofit leaders. Ms. Harris holds not only a Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego School of Law, but she also holds a Masters in Nonprofit Leadership and Management, ensuring the guidance she offers to nonprofit leaders is not only legally sound, but is also considered "best practice" among nonprofit practitioners. She has also served as founder, board member, development director and executive director of various nonprofit organizations over the past two decades. This diverse experience has led to a unique perspective, as she understands how a nonprofit operates throughout all levels of an organization.
