J.J. Martin

California native J.J. Martin landed in Milan in 2001, where she spent 17 years as a journalist, scoping out the best of Italy as a contributing editor for Harper’s Bazaar (US), WSJ. Magazine and Wallpaper, all while educating her eye for design and forging friendships with the city’s network of creatives. In 2015, she launched La DoubleJ with the twin purpose of selling her collection of vintage clothing and shining a light on the iconic women of Milan. Propelled by J.J.’s maximalist energy, LDJ soon took flight in new collections of effortlessly elegant, feel-good fashion and homeware, delightfully immersive retail experiences and collaborations, and stories on how to live the good life, like an Italian.  Since alighting in the country she defines as her “first major spiritual teacher,” J.J. has cultivated a rich community of healers and educators, deepening her own personal practice and becoming a trusted resource in the wellness world. With “Raise Your Vibration” as the company motto, she has curated and hosted expansive online and in-person wellness workshops and retreats around the globe, even building spaces in her retail stores dedicated to enhancing the well-being and consciousness of the ever-growing LDJ tribe.  J.J. has seamlessly merged her authentic life passions into a new kind of lifestyle brand—one that encourages women to seek joy both inside and out. She has captured this wild, uplifting, at times painful but always empowering journey in her first book, “Mamma Milano”, an ode to her now beloved Motherland, Italia.
