ABOUT LEARNAKAN.COM LEARNAKAN.COM is a community-based e-learning website dedicated to helping people from around the world to read, write, and speak the Akan language, spoken in most parts of Ghana in West Africa. Founded in June 2016 by Stephen Awiba, the website features a wide range of useful lessons on the very important aspects of the language, including pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, speaking, reading, and listening. There is also a dedicated YouTube channel, LEARNAKAN, where video lessons are published to complement the text lessons. ABOUT LEARNAKANDICTIONARY.COM LEARNAKANDICTIONARY.COM is the ultimate online destination for English to Twi and Twi to English translations. Launched on March 6, 2018, to commemorate Ghana’s 61st independence anniversary, the website forms part of the broader LEARNAKAN project. LEARNAKANDICTIONARY.COM is ideal for Twi learners of all levels, linguists, and other professionals who use the Asante Twi dialect of the Akan language in their line of work. ABOUT FOUNDER & AUTHOR Stephen Awiba, popularly known by his students as Yaw, is the founding editor of LEARNAKAN.COM and LEARNAKANDICTIONARY.COM. He was born and raised in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital of Ghana, where Akan (Asante Twi) is spoken as the first language. Besides being exposed to and acquiring Twi from birth, Yaw has had the privilege of studying Twi from the basic school level, through high school, and at the university. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics and Theatre Arts from the University of Ghana (UG) and an MPhil in English Linguistics and Language Acquisition from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
