Elizabeth Michaud is an award-winning poet from Atlanta, GA. Her first collection of poetry, Five Dreams, has garnered several recognitions, including First Place for Best Contemporary Poetry in The BookFest Awards for Spring 2024. In The Bones in the Garden (and other things found there), her second collection of poetry, Michaud continues telling stories in verse, using the backdrop of history—particularly black history--to ground some of her most provocative tales. In all her works, she celebrates the magic of love, the futility of longing, the heartache of loss, the wonder of the fantastic, and the nature of darkness (be it real or imaginary), all with a voice that embraces classic poetic forms but with a modern edge. She is a storyteller at heart, and uses poetry to be the vehicle by which she tells her tales. Ms. Michaud is a mother of three adult children currently living in GA. Originally from TX, Ms. Michaud has spent most of her life in the South, and her writing is influenced by the diverse experiences of her background. A teacher of high school French, she has studied five languages in her lifetime. When she is not writing, she spends her time with her children, reading, watching TV, hosting game night with friends and family, and forever trying to get healthy and fit.
