Collaborating with his co-author and wife, Kathleen Penhollow, originally from Ilocos Norte, Philippines, Avi started his journey in children's literature, founding Penhollow Publishing with Little Hollow Tales as its heartwarming children's books division. His dedication to promoting cultural awareness through storytelling is at the forefront of his work. Before venturing into the world of kids' books, Avi spent years as a doctoral student in English Education, where his research focused on language ideology and historical perspectives of Language Arts teaching and learning. His expertise in this field has been invaluable in shaping his writing, making it a blend of creativity and educational insight. Avi holds a bachelor's degree in Religious Studies and Journalism from Beloit College and a Master's in Education from the University of Missouri - Columbia. With over two decades of experience as a high school teacher, Avi has shared his knowledge and passion in classrooms across California, Colorado, Texas, Missouri, and Hawaii. Currently residing in Orange County, California, Avi Penhollow lives with his wife, Kathleen, and their three children. His writing is a reflection of his deep commitment to bridging cultural gaps and nurturing a love for literature in the hearts of young readers worldwide.
