Abena was born in Ghana, West Africa, and spent most of her life there. Her culinary journey led her to master the art of preparing traditional Ghanaian foods, a skill she acquired from the wonderful people in her life—friends, family, and especially her older brother, David, who taught her the basics of cooking.
