Barbara R. Walker

Motivated by her experiences as a young mother, Barbara R. Walker earned a doctoral degree in counseling psychology from the University of Oregon. In her early professional life, she worked as a researcher, instructor, and counselor in the field of special education, concentrating on parent–professional partnerships to benefit children with disabilities. Later she specialized in family therapy with a focus on working with parents raising a child with disability. She lives in Eugene, Oregon, with her husband. She has two grown sons and four grandchildren.
