Eric Abbey, PhD, is a professor of English and literature at Oakland Community College in Michigan. He is the author of Distillation of Sound: Dub and the Creation of Culture published by Intellect Books, co-editor of Hardcore, Punk, and Other Junk: Aggressive Sounds in Contemporary Music, published by Lexington Books, and the author of Garage Rock and Its Roots: Musical Rebels and the Drive for Individuality, published by McFarland Books, along with multiple chapters in edited collections and two textbooks for Composition 1 and 2. He is a professional musician with the groups, J. Navarro & the Traitors, Detroit Riddim Crew, Killer Diller and 1592, a producer of ska and reggae and owner of Abbey Productions, LLC. Abbey also works producing Dub riddims and tracks for musicians around the world and owns Pocket Sound System. His continuing work focuses on dub and recording strategies in Jamaica.
