Kristine S. Ervin’s essays have appeared in Fourth Genre, CrimeReads, Crab Orchard Review, Brevity, Passages North, and Silk Road, and her work “Cleaving To” was recognized as notable by Best American Essays. She holds an MFA in Poetry from New York University and a PhD in Creative Writing and Literature, with a focus in nonfiction, from the University of Houston. She is an Associate Professor at West Chester University, where she teaches creative writing workshops and seminars on truth and authenticity in creative nonfiction and on breaking silences. She grew up in what once was a small a suburb of Oklahoma City, and, though she misses the sunsets and thunderstorms, she’s come to love the Northeast, where she’s closer to the ocean and has the opportunity to wear more jackets and coats.
