She was a SEND teacher for 11 years and continues to work with children in school settings through her author visits and workshops. She has a degree in Psychology and is a qualified Mindset Coach.
Lisa's aim for her books is to support children with their mental health and self-esteem by promoting positive messages of strength, perseverance and love.
During her time in the classroom, Lisa felt that there needed to be a greater emphasis on children's well-being by encouraging more of a growth mindset; teaching pupils how to manage and regulate their feelings and emotions. She realised that children needed to be explicitly taught how to streamline their thoughts in a more positive and productive way- through good quality texts and well planned lessons. Mindfulness and Yoga is also another area which she feels is under utilised in the classroom. Young children need to know that the quality of their thoughts often determines their success and happiness in the future.
