Mark Gronewald

Mark Gronewald grew up in Alaska and was an early developer of fat-tired bicycles. He has been a mountain guide, wildland firefighter, carpenter, bike shop owner, and trail building contractor. The events portrayed in Iditarod Improbable are loosely based on his experiences riding in similar races between 1997 and 2006. He resides near Palmer, Alaska.
