Maura Milia

Originary of Sardinia, Italy, after her studies in Human Sciences, in 2011 Maura moved to London. In the capital, she discovered her passion for hospitality. Covering several positions across luxury hotels and fine dining destinations in London and then in Florence, Italy, Maura sharpened her client relations skills as well as attention to detail and knowledge of premium produce. Back in London, in 2014 Maura joined The Connaught Bar at The Connaught Hotel, one of London’s top cocktail and hospitality destinations. She began as a cocktail waitress to work her way up to be appointed Deputy Bar Manager in 2019 and Bar Manager in 2022. During this journey marked by determination and a shared commitment to extraordinary hospitality, Maura achieved the important recognition of ‘Front of House Star of the Year’ at the CLASS Bar Awards 2018 and Bar Manager of the Year at CLASS Bar Awards 2022. The very first time that a woman and a front of house staff member was awarded in the history of The Connaught Bar, Maura’s accolades are testament to her contribution to the team and venue’s progress as well as to recognition of women talent in hospitality. Together with her mentor Agostino Perrone and the Connaught Bar team, they have been awarded a number of prestigious awards that encapsulate the venue’s outstanding hospitality standards. World’s Best Bar for two consecutive years at the World’s 50 Best Bars 2020 and 2021 as well as Best International Bar Team at Tales of The Cocktail’s Spirited Awards 2020 follow 13 years of accolades and achievements for The Connaught Bar. For Maura, creating experiences for The Connaught Bar guests does not only revolve around the top-quality creations served, but first and foremost around the way these are delivered. A meticulous attention to detail, storytelling and impeccable synergy within the team, make the guest experience second to none at The Connaught Bar. Leading and mentoring a team of 16, looking after their personal and professional development, and being the key connection between bar and floor teams as well as bar and broader hotel management, Maura’s role is key to the smoothest and highest-standard bar activity.
